Business planning
We have a wealth of experience in the field of business planning to deliver business planning assignments that are robust, pragmatic, financially-grounded and focused on the REAL opportunities open to the client. Over the last few years, we have completed a very large number of major business plans for clients in sectors such as engineering, materials handling, aerospace, construction products and many others.
As important as the business plan document is the business planning process. Our full intention on such assignments is to challenge ALL of the assumptions and thinking of the management team throughout the process in order to ensure that the end product - the business plan - is as robust as possible. Furthermore, our overwhelming priority is to ensure that the business plan has the full "buy-in" of the people who will be responsible for actually implementing it.
Cost management
We all want to have profitable businesses and we all want more sales. Well, these two seemingly obvious business aims are not always linked; not all sales are profitable and not all businesses with sales are profitable. That's because the costs of operating the business and the burdens of its working capital cycle exceed the revenues generated by the sales.
In these situations, accountants love cutting budgets row by row with the swipe of a red pen. Cutting budgets does not in itself however reduce the cost base of a business in a way that improves profits. Our accountancy team therefore specializes in reviewing operational procedures and administration arrangements in order to identify practical ways of reducing are costs while providing an effective business platform. This is cost management and it is more of a commercial process supported by the necessary expertise and resources to enable it.
Procurement
Poor procurement is one of the most common causes of poor cost management. We have significant expertise in reviewing procurement systems and procedures and then supporting the client in the implementation of Best Practice in this area in order to improve lead times, lower supplier costs and minimize over-reliance on key suppliers.
Accessing finance
In the current economic climate, the availability of finance is severely restricted and businesses are often struggling to survive. Similarly, the growth plans of many other businesses are constrained due to their inability to secure external funding. We have real expertise in helping clients to identify sources of external finance ...and in applying successfully for these sources of funds.
Financial planning and modeling
At FCF, it is our approach to work closely with our clients to provide practical advice and support. We have advanced financial analysis and business modelling skills that can help clients consider the implications of the business options that are currently in front of them. We have regularly worked with clients seeking to complete business plans and funding applications, and also with government in reviewing them.
Through our experience of negotiating financial transactions, we are well placed to assist clients with commercial advice on either the 'buy' or 'sell' side, and indeed we have offered this service to both public and private sector clients in the past.
