Council seeks to support Local Businesses in the Tourism Sector

Coleraine Borough Council is delighted to announce the launch of its Think Big ...Think Tourism Programme. The programme will recruit 12 owners / managers of businesses in the Borough of Coleraine who have a desire and hunger to identify and exploit new business opportunities, manage their businesses more efficiently and embrace Best Practice.

Participants on the programme will benefit from one to one consultancy support which will seek to support participants to enhance current strengths and remove constraints to growth. Each participant will be assisted in the development of a practical and realistic business development plan during the Programme.

The Programme which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland 2007 – 2013 will be delivered by Full Circle Management Solutions. Commenting on the programme, Simon Devlin of Full Circle states: “It is a very challenging time economically but the tourism sector continues to offer real growth potential for many businesses. We are already working with many clients in the tourism sector who are really gearing up to grow over the next few years”.

The Programme is part of a larger suite of programmes which the Council has rolled out over the last few years. Martin Clark, Economic Development Officer with Coleraine Borough Council highlights the importance of business development programmes:

“The Council is very keen to support the local tourism sector in whatever way it can. This is the 1st time that we have commissioned the development of a programme which is specifically for the tourism sector and we are very confident that this will be a big success. If you own / manage a tourism-focused business in Coleraine, we would encourage you to apply”.
